it's microsoft's malicous program tool. if you turn it on for everything, you might find a program that won't run that you want to run. for instance, i have an alfa wireless adapter with a realtec chipset that has a driver that isn't signed by microsoft. if i turn dep on for everything, it won't run. you can turn it on for everything and list programs to be excluded from dep but i guess you would have to know which ones won't run first.
