reset X200 original status - format/delete everything?

#1 Post by lyzerana » Wed Oct 06, 2010 7:48 am

Hi,

I would like to sell my X200. Because of that, would like to restore its original settings and delete all my traces including the finger print, etc. As I don't have a dock, however, I cannot simply format the disk as otherwise the new owner won't be able to get windows on it so easily (I think). Basically, I would like the new owner to be able to start from scratch with a nice welcome screen to lead him through all security settings and initial set ups as it was the case for me when I started the machine for the first time. Is this possible? If yes, how? If no, what else can I do? I have searched for an answer to this in the forums already, but couldn't find one. If any one of the more advanced forum members can point me into the right direction, that would be great!

Many thanks!!

PS: My x200 is on windows vista 32 business if that is of any importance for that.

If you press the blue Thinkvantage button upon boot, it should offer you a menu with a Restore option.
That would wipe the hard disk and reinstall back to ex-factory status.
AFAIK there is an option in the BIOS (press F1 at boot) to delete FPR data.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Not a How to or FAQ. Moving to the X200 forum.
