How to determine if I have a Flexview screen.
How to determine if I have a Flexview screen.
I just purchased a Thinkpad T60 on ebay. It a 15" 4:3 ratio, 1400x1050 res. with a ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 video card. PC wizard gives a display type of LP150E05-A2.
Model - 2007 73U
Is this a Flexview IPS screen?
I don't think it is... The screen is DIM and white screens appear slightly yellowish..
I have it side by side with my T61p 1680x1050 15.4", and the T61p is MUCH brighter and whiter.
Did ALL T60 15" 1400x1050 (sxga+) comes with Flexview?
Could this be a backlight or inverter problem?
Help is greatly appreciated.

LP150E05-A2 is an LG IPS-FlexView Panel - The yellowish appearence seems to be a characteristic of this panel, possibly due to the backlicght age.
BOE-Hydis also made IPS-FlexView 1400x1500 (SXGA+) 15.0" panels - FRU: 13N7196 (HV150P01)

Are you using battery power? the default screen brightness drops when using battery,- to save power.
Re: How to determine if I have a Flexview screen.
AC power, and on 2504 dock.
I thought Flexview was supposed to be far superior to other screens.
Either the backlight is bad or this screen has been swapped with non flexview..

You can tell from the viewing angles. If you can view the image without distortion from a 45* angle in all directions it is a flexview LCD. Also it will say Flexview in Device Manager under display.
Re: How to determine if I have a Flexview screen.
The flexview are better than other screens, but as P2P noted, the LG screens can yellow over time and all CFFL screens can dim over time. Some do better than others. A T60 with a T2500 could be almost five years old.markdb77 wrote:AC power, and on 2504 dock.

Boe-Hydis did make some SXGA+ screens, but they're very rare and hard to find. If you want to swap the screens, there's some UXGA versions of the Boe screen here. The screen swap on the T60 is pretty easy. It's a straight swap. You don't have to replace any other parts.

This is related to the polarizer used in IPS panels. The cheaper ones has a reddish tone that is not apparent when the B/L is bright.
IPS can be viewed 5-10 degrees from parallel without image reversal or 160-170 degrees from side to side.Harryc wrote:You can tell from the viewing angles. Re: How to determine if I have a Flexview screen.
Awesome. The point to the OP is that it is immediately apparent that you have an IPS screen because the viewing angles are overwhelming better than a regular TN panel.sjthinkpader wrote: IPS can be viewed 5-10 degrees from parallel without image reversal or 160-170 degrees from side to side.
