A few 701C questions...:)

#1 Post by n6xb » Sat Mar 12, 2005 5:11 pm

I am trying to get my old 701C up and running again. It currently is running Win98SE with a 320Meg HD.

1. My current bios is BUTUS30. Is this the most current?

2. Is it correct that the 701C PCMCIA slots are 32bit, but not Cardbus compatible?

3. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a wireless adapter that will work other than the IBM device?

Thanks all for the help!

I'm not sure abou the BIOS, the 701 does not support CardBus and as for a wreless adaptor, go with an 802.11B as G does not come in a PCMCIA version, only cardbus. I have a Belkin 802.11B card for my 380 that works fine and is standard PCMCIA and not CardBus.

Thanks so much for the help. I see some belkin-B adapters on ebay, so I will give one a try. It will be so nice to bring new life to my 701C!

No problem. If you need anything else, just ask and I'll attempt to help.
