IPS would be nice as an option, but at least they should source better panels more consistently. Some people get good panels, others get terrible ones. Some consistency and an increasing trend in quality even for TN panels would be nice.

You're so right that I still keep my T60 15' 4/3 IPS with a SSD .
The new ones have worse displays.
Wait'n see ;)

My wishes would be:
- Reduced power consumption/better battery life (although this would apply to any portable device, ever...)
- Higher res screen options, with consistently good quality panels
- I would not mind losing the optical drive, but one of the nice things about the T4x0s series is that you get a fully functional laptop, in a lightweight package. That's a niche not widely filled. If you don't want the optical drive, it's great to have the option to put a 2nd drive or a battery in there. It would be nice to get it even slimmer though...

Honestly, I don't want to see much change! I want to make sure that all accessories are compatible for at least one revision, if not two. That's a big part of why we buy Thinkpads in the first place.

For those complaining about the trackpad scrolling, try enabling two finger scrolling, and adjust the sensitivity settings in the control panel (the factory settings are awful). With some tweaking, the scrolling is fantastic (not Apple good, but 90%). I could never go back to scroll zones.

Edit: Forgot about my major gripe with the current T410s - the incredibly stupid release mechanism for the ultrabay - which is almost impossible to use when docked!! Please change this!

Yeah, and the latch mechanism isn't much better.
