Remotely turning on a T43

#1 Post by catback » Tue Oct 12, 2010 10:03 am

Hi,

I have a spare T43 that I've connected to my HDTV for viewing streaming movies from Netflix. Everything has been wired up and I'm very happy with the audio/video quality.

The only issue is with turning the laptop on. Since it resides in the entertainment cabinet, I have pull it out and manually press the on button everytime I want to use it. Wake on Lan is one way of remotely turning it on but the only other PC is two floors up so it doesn't seem like a practical solution. Some laptops support Wake on USB but I didn't see such a feature listed in the BIOS. Since the laptop is used only for a few hours a day, I would rather not keep it on continuously.

Any suggestions on remotely turning on the laptop from within the same room?

Thanks.
