Webcam

#1 Post by Dougie73 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 2:55 am

Sorry, I am sure this question has been asked a 1000 times but I can't find the answer. I have a Thinkpad X201 with an integrated webcam - how do i go about starting the webcam so that I can record a video message? It works fine with skype but just want to record a stand alone piece and can't for the life of me figure out how to do it...

I'm gonna follow this thread, because I haven't figured out how to start the one on my X200s either, then again, I haven't searched.

It works great with Yahoo, or directly to YouTube, but I too haven't found whether or not there is software included, or available to get it going, to record a stand alone video.

Will search now that I have typed all of that...lol

OK, I didn't find anything either, HOWEVER, I am thinking that you might be able to capture video through Windows Movie Maker. I'll try when I get home.

I think you might need to get software for that. I didn't see anything on my R500 w/ webcam.

I guess Movie Maker in Vista and earlier can import directly from the webcam, but the version that you have to add to Windows 7, doesn't. You have to buy an upgrade, or get some other software to do it.

Lenovo Thinkvantage Communications Utility may help. It controls audio and video features. Fn+F6 keys.

YAWCAM may help as well. Free webcam controller software. Very good.
