Kinda whiny noise from an X200?

Maybe it was always there and I just didn't notice it, but my X200 seems to be making a kind of whiny noise. It's like a long continuous tone coming from somewhere in it. It's very quiet, and I wouldn't have noticed except that it's very quiet in my room right now. Any ideas on what that might be?

it's your processor in power-saving mode.   change your power plan to high- or maximum-performance and the sound will go away.

of course, it will run hotter as a result so you'll have to decide which is more important.
