Lenovo Sound Bar on T410s - volume too loud
Lenovo Sound Bar on T410s - volume too loud
I work with my T410s docked at my desk most of the time, connected to two external monitors. I recently purchased the Lenovo Sound Bar which mounts to the bottom of my monitor and should be perfectly adequate for the system sounds and occasional on-line video I want to show someone. The problem is that no matter what, it is too loud. With the volume set to 1 it is louder than I would like it to be in our quiet office. It is also hissy and static-y - it sounds AWFUL. I've tried hooking it up to different usb ports to no avail. I have tried adjusting the Windows volume control independently, but it is also set to the lowest setting. I'm on Windows 7 x64.
Any suggestions?

Is it okay when you're trying to play from regular speakers? Does the sound bar work properly with other sources?

Yes, regular built in speakers are ok, as is the headphone jack, and the external usb headphone amp I use at times.
I have not tried it on another computer.

Err... Could you try it on another computer/stereo/iPod/something? I assume it's the standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
EDIT: Or not, it's USB.

Right, USB. Actually, I did have it on my old laptop, I forgot about that - I got the sound bar and a new laptop around the same time. Old laptop was also Win 7 x64. I think this product is basically just junk. I wish it was a simple headphone jack instead of USB.

No, my recollection is that the old computer had the issue too, but I'm out of the office for a while so I cant check it at the moment. Thanks!
