T410 vs. T510 - Display Questions

#1 Post by buddypad » Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:04 am

Hi folks,

I'm looking forward to buy a few new TP's for our company. But actually I don't really know, which model I should choose.

I figured out, that the T510 screens are a step better than the T410 screens - am I right?

Maybe you could help me choosing the right model. Maybe you have some pics, where I can directly compare the T410 and the T510 side by side.

Would be nice, if you also give some advice/pics for the HD+ or FHD displays on the T510.

Which one would you prefer? Can you see the difference between the T410 and T510 Displays?

Cheers Buddy

It might help if you said what you wanted to do with them and how much mobility you needed.

Mainly they will be used at the office (with docking), but they also will be used outside at different locations (different offices, sometimes outside,...).

Actually we're using old R61 15" Models (8943-DMG).

T410 14" Models would be our favorite choice (the specs are, beside the screen, the same like the T510). But the T410 are smaller, lighter,...

If the T410 screen's are better than the old R61 screens then everything is fine - but I don't really know if they are.

Maybe we also will give the T510 a chance, because the screens are (that's what I've read so far) much better than the T410 screens?!

Depending on how lucky you are (LCD panel lottery), you might get a great panel, or you might get a mediocre panel. My panel in the T400 isn't too shabby until it comes to reproducing the colour red properly (I have an example posted here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 61#p589261). Nevertheless, it's not noticeable, and the screen is perfectly fine for everything I do (documents, taking notes, casual gaming, occasional movie). The vertical viewing angles are more than enough for me; I'm guesstimating around 50 degrees up and 30 degrees down. Horizontally they're about 45L/45R.

My friend with a T510 says it's a bit large for lugging around university but it's not a problem. For sitting at an office, the size would be fine, although the 16:9 aspect ratio might be a bit awkward for office usage. (The T410 is still 16:10 and the T510 is now 16:9.)
