T400 and battery problem

I'm travelling quite a lot. I landed to China yesterday...
I had turned off my T400 without checking that she really was off. Battery was dead.
Battery indicator "orange" is blinking on and off and charge meter says 100%, "A battery error occurred. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery".

Battery is around 15 months old, worked quite normally until yesterday.

I have taken battery out several times, trying to charge it when PC is OFF and ON.. but blinking does not go away. Power maintenance "battery reset" kills the PC immediately.

I can have a new battery once I go back home. Is there anything I could do and get this one charged while still out of office?
