Ultrabay HD Not working on T60

#1 Post by boderek » Thu Oct 28, 2010 12:08 pm

After reading many of the discussion threads and implementing many of the suggestions, I am still not getting my Ultrabay HD to work on my T60.

I am using a Lenovo SATA Drive Ultrabay (40Y8725) adapter and a Lenovo 320 GB Sata 7200 rpm HD (43N3411). I am running Windows XP with all the latest updates. I have also install all of the critical and recommended updates for T60 from Lenovo.

When I boot up with the drive, I get a "Error 2102: HDD1 (Hard disk in Ultrabay initialization error)" The drive just spins when I do a hot swap. The drive never appears as an option for partitioning/formatting in Disk Management.

I tried a Seagate 320 GB Sata 8200 rpm HD as well and got same results.

I must have spent 15-20 hours trying various things already... Can someone advise?

Have you tried going into diskmanagement, and by rightclicking the new drive (the leftmost field where it says: Drive 1) and Initialize it?
Without that, you won't get anywhere.

It doesn't appear at all in Disk Management.

I've had issues in the past where an unformatted, unpartitioned drive would not show up at all in a modular bay under Windows; I had to put it in a USB enclosure to partition and format before I could use it in the bay.
