Suggested Memory Modules for TP240x to make it 320Mb RAM

#1 Post by red_rolla » Mon Mar 14, 2005 12:02 am

hi all!

am new to the list. I just got my TP 240x 2609-61A. P3 500Mhz, 64MB onboard + 64Mb Memory Module=128Mb RAM, 12Gb HD, External Floppy, External USB CDROM. WinXP.

Would just like to know the ff.
- is it really true that if you put in a 256Mb ram in a 240x, it will go up to 320Mb RAM?

- What particular RAM brands/model would you guys suggest so I can achieve the highest memory capacity for the 240x?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you should be able to put in a 256MB PC100 SODIMM to maximize capacity. Micron (www.crucial.com) is a good brand. DO NOT USE PC133 MEMORY. People will tell you PC133 is compatible but they are wrong and the machine will act flaky. You need PC100.

Oops, according to another thread further down in this section, you can't upgrade the 240X to 320MB. You can do it on the 240 but not the 240X. Actually the 240 only had 32MB built in, but I added 256MB to mine so it ran with 288MB.
