This machine was a "labour of love" on my part, configured for a very good friend of mine who was unfortunately handed a pink slip this past week, and is way too proud to accept it on a "you'll pay for it someday" basis...

If you were interested in a top-notch-classic-three-spindle-IPS-equipped-ThinkPad you should honestly look no further. The very best batch of various A3x (and other) parts that I had in stock went into this machine. It is an exceptional one no matter where you went to school. Of course there's some light wear on the lid and bottom, but that's about it. This A31p is as clean as they come these days, period. Do I really need to say that the screen is flawless?

Given that I don't have a legal copy of W2K to install, you can get it with a Linux distro of your choice, or a formatted drive, the choice is entirely yours. It's currently running Mint 9, and one could never tell that this is a 7-year old computer, it feels quite snappy.

This thing of beauty is priced at $249 firm shipped within U.S. or $230 + shipping at cost almost anywhere else. No offers, please. If I can't get what I'm asking for I'll just keep it and throw my R5U on feebay. PayPal users are expected to cover the fee amount, other payment methods gladly accepted, feel free to inquire.

PM or email me directly to tataslonATaol.com with any questions/concerns.

Wow, I can't believe you even had a heart to sell it, I would keep it. :P

Under certain circumstances I would buy it, just for the sake of seeing the most top-notch A31p. Unfortunately these circumstances have not been created, and in any case it seems like someone was faster than me and will put it to better use. ;)

BTW, what is the meaning of "legal W2K"? Isn't the legality of an OS determined solely by the COA? Any media should be fine. Was it different for pre-XP OSes?

@dr_st:

The only copy of W2K I have at my disposal (and use for occasional testing) is a corporate one, which belongs to my employer...not something I'd put on any machine that goes up for sale...I'd have to remove way too much stuff, let alone all the other legal issues... :mrgreen:

Once you hit the Israeli lottery over there, drop me a line and I'll build you a maxed-out A31p from scratch. All jokes aside, I'd have no problem doing it for you... :)

If we are defining "legal" as good serials from destroyed machines, I can help.

Go down about 6 or 7 pictures to Glennie's Grocery, the PC shop was located just down the street.
