T40/T500 Series Refresh

#1 Post by dsb1982 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 9:55 am

I have a T500, but I'm ready to upgrade. Does anyone know if there will be a refresh of the series to include USB 3 (SuperSpeed) and memory up to or more than 16 gb? I'm not interested in switching to the W-series.

BTW: Long time reader, first time poster. That is all.

There should be a refresh of various models after Intel releases Sandy Bridge line of CPU. Many of new/refreshed models should be announced during CES during January 2011. So you will see official launch of new models during 1st quarter 2011.

It doesn't look like Intel is supporting USB3 in the near future. So don't see a widespread adoption of USB3 for a while. USB3 may be skipped altogether and optical fiber technology using Light Peak may see light of the day in the near future, replacing USB SATA Firewire etc...

Don't know about 16GB support but should not be too far away...
