Possible to keep Rapid Restore browser, but thats it?

#1 Post by sswany » Fri Jun 11, 2004 7:01 pm

I'm waiting for my T42 to get here (2378-FVU) and I'm wondering if it's possible to get rid of the hidden partitions, but just keep the browser (sounds like it could be useful some time) thats embedded? I'm going to make the 7 restore CDs and then just edit my own XP retail edition to do a clean install with the OEM key (perhaps a linux partition too), but I don't need all of the restore partition information on there seeing as how it doesn't like extra partitions also.

Can this be done?

Thanks.

With the IBM factory preload you can't selectively choose what resides on the IBM Service partition. It's either all or nothing. If you want to customize what's there (in this instance, have a bootable environment to run the Opera Browser from a hidden/service partition), you need to purchase IBM ImageUltra Builder to create your own build, but it's expensive since IBM considers it an enterprise solution, among other things.

Looks like I won't have the browser.
