Flexview? 14"? 15"?
Flexview? 14"? 15"?
I keep reading that the 15" units are larger, and heavier. Does anyone have side-by-side pics to compare?
I'm looking for a laptop and I'm seriously considering the T42s. I think SXGA+ is the perfect resolution (1400x1050), and I was pretty sure I wanted 14.1", but with IBM you can't always get the exact specs you want at the best prices.
My question is. I've heard a lot about FlexView and the great viewing angles, but poor response time (ghosting). Which screen is "FlexView"? Is it just the 15" ones? Or is it only the hi-rez 1600x1200 ones? How do the 14.1" 1400x1050 screens fare in terms of viewing angles, response times, brightness, etc.? That's the one I probably want.

You might want to search the forums for opinions as this has now been discussed to death and everyone has pretty much spoken up.
As for the facts:
All IBM FlexViews are 15"; there are no 14.1" FlexViews.
The 15" FlexViews come in 2 resolutions: 1400x1050 SXGA+ or 1600x1200 UXGA.
Some of the previous threads have posted links to pictures (side by side)--especially one that showed multiple angles of the two on a French forum. Do a serach and you'll find it.

Here are the 14.1" vx. 15" T42 Pics
Hi, 2 weeks ago (thru this same forum), there was a link to:
http://forum.tt-hardware.com/ultimatebb ... forum&f=11
"Ordinateurs portables" forum (it's in French)
can't find the post, but here are the pictures i've saved onto my hard drive.
the machines are in Japanese, but you get the idea on size.
(only wish they included a ruler in the pictures to so we have easier time discerning the actual sizes.)

****arrrggg... how do you insert an image (i'm new to this forum).
5 have the 5 very good side-by-side pictures of T42 14.1" vs. 15"
if anyone can enlighten us on how to insert an image from our hard drive, i'll post it for everyone to see (the source of pictures were not from me).

Please don't post pictures to the forum as some of us access it over very slow connections. Put the picture online somewhere, and then just put the link to it in your message.
Thanks!
Thanks!
