Missing screws in a T60, is this normal? *PICS*

#1 Post by Tasurinchi » Mon Nov 08, 2010 4:28 pm

Hi guys

As I'm writing this I'm finishing to rebuild my T60. The keyboard arrived today and I have assembled it together with the Palmrest. But when I was securing the last screws I noticed two holes with missing screws. I went up & down the HMM but couldn't find (or better said was unable to find) any reference.

I took them some photos and marked the holes in red below. Sorry for the sloppy job, but I was in a hurry and had no time to learn GIMP Portable. Do you know if any screw is needed? If you find the page of the HMM please let me know. If a screw is needed I don't want to put the wrong one there.

Thanks a lot in advance!

The first one is the locking screw for the DVD drive. It normally isn't included and is only fitted if you want to make the DVD drive non-removable. The second screw should be there though. Well, it is on mine.

The first picture's screw is a short one, to 'block' the CD/DVD drive 'lever' from popping out. Not required.
The second picture's screw is the same size as used for fastening the keyboard. It is required to hold the left of the upper keyboard bezel in place.

Thanks guys!

I've overlooked the second one, will be put in after the Ubuntu 10.10 updates are ready. I did not even have to wait 10 minutes for the answers, this is a great forum!

It's weird... I put the screw for photo number 2, but the screw head slightly stays "out" of the bezel. A smaller screw will not fit so I left the recommended one. :??:
