R40/e motherboard part number for Pentium M

#1 Post by rssb » Tue Nov 09, 2010 1:27 pm

Are there any MB part numbers, either from R40/e or a different series which would fit in a R40 bottom chassis.

Next if they fit, will they allow the use of a Pentium M processor.

Yes, there were R40 units that were equipped with PM CPUs, one of the model numbers I believe is 2723. Unfortunately, HMM doesn't list the FRU numbers for these boards.

There are no other boards that will fit that frame, let alone support a PM CPU.

Good luck.

Ok finally got a motherboard with Pentium M 1.4 in it for a R40.

Has anyone successfully installed a Dothan in a R40 motherboard. Trying with a 1.7 dothan nothing on the screen, however a 1.4 Banias works fine. Have the latest bios, wonder if it s a CPU microcode not in the Bios.

When I looked into it there was no way a Dothan would run in an R40. I was told that but tried it anyway. No luck so I'm running an undervolted 1.7 Banias.
