T60/T42 Parts Commonality

Hi all - here's my second post since joining today. Please be patient with my basic questions, that have probably been asked and answered before (my search returns were overwhelming). I have a T60 and love it. I have a six year old T42 that broke down (I got an "internal power failure" message as it crashed - now it won't boot, assume it's the motherboard). It had a relatively new 80 GB HD, 2 GB RAM, new DVD drive, battery, etc. I know the power adapter and battery are different, but are there any components from my T42 that could be used in a T60? I'd like to find an incomplete Thinkpad (eBay probably) and put the best parts together, so I can get a computer going for my daughter. I'll just stick with a T42 if there is no compatability. Any advice would be appreciated.

Only the optical drive will work in a T60.

And even then it will not look quite right (if you care about such things) as the T60 has a flat bezel on the optical drive whereas the T42 has a beveled one.
