#1 Post by jmagbita » Mon Mar 14, 2005 10:13 pm

my friend also has a thinkpad.. recently i noticed he pressed a couple buttons and it brought up this little pop up window with all of the current programs he was running.. they had little icons of microsoft powerpoint, a company program we use, and a couple other icons..

from there he was able to scroll and quickly swith in between programs..

anyone know what to press?

thanks!! :D

I have no idea... on what you're talking about and what the buttons on it. Maybe it's not an IBM program. Maybe it's third-party software or something. Anyone?

Sounds like the Tweak XP Task Switcher, one of the Power Toys, and the keys he was hitting were Alt + Tab.

it's not another program

it's a way of bringing up all the programs you are running and switching between them.. he told me the combo of buttons to press but i forgot it.. something like "ctrl" and somethign else..

it's like pressing ctrl, alt, delete and bringin up your windows task manager, but instead of a list of programs, it shows the icons and you can switch between them

Ordinarily, the task switcher only displays a list of programs. But the Power Toy task switcher (it's free at microsoft.com, and it comes with the Plus Pack), displays each program as a thumbnail instead.

The keystroke to display the task switcher, Alt + Tab, remains the same.

There are several Power Toys that make Windows XP better . . . or at least, more interesting . . .

Download it here http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... ySetup.exe (534 KB) and install it.
Use Alt+Tab to run it. We are sure that is what you are looking for...
