R32 lost wireless adapter

#1 Post by thetimerider » Fri Nov 12, 2010 8:47 am

The R32 2658-J3U that my wife uses for facebook and games froze up a couple of times one day and then the wireless connection was gone. Over the phone i walked here through getting into the connection manager were she found no wireless connection.
I've looked at it and cant find the cisco systems wireless network adapter in device manager. It seems in the past when i've done a fresh install of the OS before downloading drivers it at least showed an adapter but not functional.

So If the adapter is not present its not going to take a driver, is it? Or would applying a driver maybe bring the adapter back online?

Is it more likely that the adapter is burned out?

Its a combo card and the lan adapter is present and working, Is it possible for one part of the card to work and not the other?

Could it be a OS issue?

Any help would be appreciated

Also , RSeries laptop is same in many many HARWARES (common) ...you be supsrised HOW SAME they are ,,,, except for price and name !!!

So check this way:
1) press and hold button "Fn" and then press F5 key >
> you should see another screen appear > anc check that wireless is ON

2) if on ,, than maybe follow my sugested process in the other post(s)...

3) When all else done , yiicks it still dont work = means FAILED HARDWARE!
and yes , even though not very very common , the combo does loose its 'wirless' parts often when things are needed most !

good luck!
