Battery life will be a bit mediocre out of the box due to the lack of Optimus for the W510, but can be alleviated partially or completely with the use of the NVidia System Tools's underclocking options.

Optimus is a switchable/hybrid graphics technology whereby you can run solely on the power-saving Intel GPU instead of the power hungry NVidia GPU when on battery power.

Good battery life can still be obtained without it, although the quad-core would chew up a fair bit more power than an i7-620M.
