After a lot of research my wife went from a 14" T43p to an X201. She loves the new machine and is very happy.

Re: What next after T43p 2.26MHz 100GB
I have been behind the same dilemma for some time.
I've had various T4x series IBM's in few years (and I have truly mint T41p with Dothan CPU, Thai keyboard, DVD burner, Panasonic 9cell 66/77Wh, etc which I intend to keep) and T60, T61 but sold those and found a helluva deal on 15" UXGA T42p that has already all the things maxed out and that is by far the best thing to have as a mobile workstation.
Of course, area where I really need a laptop (tuning cars) is covered also, I have X40 and for gaming I have desktop, but T4xp series have special appeal for me. At the moment, there's no better
P.S. You can see in my sig, what I have owned, there is some backround in ThinkPads.

You should check whether T510 with FHD LCD is available in Poland and how much it would cost.
Coming from an IPS screen, you will likely have trouble adjusting to what's out there now...
Good luck.

Re: What next after T43p 2.26MHz 100GB
That's quite a jump there, both in price and generations from a T43 to a brand new T510. If you really like the 14" format, and want to go with the newest there is, I would check out the T410, and maybe also the slimmer T410s. The T410s is the the best looking Thinkpad since the T43 and the T60, and even though I have never seen one live, I think that's the one from the present product line that best preserves the classic Thinkpad style that you see in your T43. (This is my personal view, for what it's worth)
Otherwise, I would say that a T60 is the natural progression on from a T43. By buying one of these, you pretty much know what you get: A reliable workhorse, Dual Core processors, more/faster RAM, SATA drives, etc, and you can get these in 14" 4:3, like you specify. The downside is that even the T60 is starting to get old now in the computer world, and is far away from the newest technology. So this is all a question about what computing resources you need and how much you feel like spending on a laptop.
Just a piece of advice: Stay away from the T61 with Nvidia graphics. Seeing the rate at which these fail these days, I will go as far as advising not to buy a T61. Unless it's a integrated graphics one, or you know what you are doing, and are willing to live with the risk.

After T43(p) I would select some 15" T60p or 14" T60 with SXGA+ and ATI graphics.
Current: T420
Previous: T400, T43p Flexview, T40, R52, T43p 14"
My first ThinkPad was 570

Re: What next after T43p 2.26MHz 100GB
I'd second that. I have two T6s with Intel Graphics and I love them! They're fast and cool. I was just watching a HD video in my T60 with no issues at all and the GPU was not that hot. I cannot say the same with my T43p, Don't get me wrong, I also like it and it's a fine TP, but the difference in performance with a CoreDuo are noticeable.lukee wrote:After T43(p) I would select some 15" T60p or 14" T60 with SXGA+ and ATI graphics.

Hi,
I agree that a T60 would be the next inline, But also consider an R60. Basically the same. A little thicker, Minor differences.
