I have RealVNC running Server 2008. I use RealVNC Viewer on my laptop (Windows 7) to connect to the Server.
I've installed Fedora 14 on another laptop. My question is how do I set up Fedora 14 to connect as a client to my server when I'm away from home?
Fedora VNC Client
Re: Fedora VNC Client
Sorry, are you asking what VNC software to use on Fedora and how to configure it, or have you only used VNC on your local network and now want to use it when you're away and connected to a different network?
If it's a software question, RealVNC and TighVNC are both good options for Linux. Configuration is pretty simple, basically identical to Windows.
If it's an issue of using VNC remotely, this is more of a router configuration. You'll need to set up port forwarding on your router and forward all incoming VNC traffic from your router to your server. You'll also need a way to access your router remotely; I'm assuming you have a dynamic IP address with your ISP so you can use dyndns.org to get a hostname for your router.
That's kind of a short start, but I'd like to hear a little more detail of what exactly your trying to do. As I said if it's a software question it's pretty easy. If it's a dynamic dns question it's not hard, just more involved.
