avira free, takes ~20MB* , easy on the cpu*, the ad popup can be easily blocked ( 3 clicks away )

Spybot S&D and Avast if I'm in Windows - which isn't often. Otherwise, I use Clam in Ubuntu.

(unless you are running server for Windows clients).

I get what you're saying, but if I can keep a virus from being passed along to one of my Windows friends, then I'd like to do that.
