T60 Rescue & Recovery - regedit.exe Application Error
Hello everyone, I am hoping that someone maybe able to assist with a small problem I have with running a R&R on a T60.
I ran a Disk Wipe (Killdisk) which after completed I tried to install XP Home. I discovered that the wipe had removed partitions and therefore wouldn't let me install. I found that if i changed the BIOS settings to compatible then this would allow install. I do not have the BIOS password so this is not an option. I have the R&R disks however, but when run from selecting CD drive I get the R&R 3 screen then get a Regedit error (twice) which I click ok on. This then loads the R&R menu but when selecting the Restore System option I get nothing but another error which doesn not display correctly.
The error message when first loading the R&R disk says
rededit.exe - Aplication Error
The application failed to initilize properly (0xc0000006). Click on Ok to terminate this application
Now I guess the regedit application is needed to complete the R&R process - HELP!!
The first time I tried this I ran out of battery, foolish I know, and I got to inserting disk 2-6 for the recovery, I since have not been albe to manage getting tp that point as this looked very promising!
I ran Kildisk again before re-trying just incase the Re-Recovery had confused matters. This did not work either...........
If anyone has any idea on how this can be overcome I would be greatly appreciative :0)

You don't have to change the BIOS setting if you provide the AHCI driver shortly after the start of the XP installation (via the "F6" option). Here is the driver:ChrisLieb23 wrote:I found that if i changed the BIOS settings to compatible then this would allow install. I do not have the BIOS password so this is not an option.

Re: T60 Rescue & Recovery - regedit.exe Application Error
I have downloaded the driver onto a USB stick however when I press F6 on windows install start-up it doesnt let me install a driver, but thinks that I want to install Windows onto the USB stick? It wont obviously allow this as its only 1gb and windows requires a lot more. Do you I have create a bootable disc for the driver and load in?
Also, is this driver for a floppy disk as suggested from the site I downloaded it from? Im a little more confused now!
How do I let the laptop know it has a C drive as windows just cant see it? Do I need RAID Drivers etc?
Thanks, Chris

Yes! If you do not have a USB floppy drive, then here are a few IBM drives (£8 shipped) on eBay U.K.:ChrisLieb23 wrote:... is this driver for a floppy disk ...?

Or others for even less:

Re: T60 Rescue & Recovery - regedit.exe Application Error
Hi Guys,
I have a usb floppy drive now and i would like to try and get this laptop re-imaged.
I have used this link for the driver (thanks EOMtp) and burned to floppy http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... ldId=18668
Can I assume that when I next try to install windows (no OS currently on Laptop), I do the F6 then load the driver from the floppy?
Thanks, Chris
