I have been trying to find out where is the slot 0 and slot 1 for the ram ?
When looking at the ThinkPad T60, is slot 0 closer to the kybd and screen or closer toward you ? I have only 1Gb of ram and don't don't if it is in slot 0 or slot 1, would it make a difference ? Plus, any type of brand of RAM better than another, which would you recommend ?
I have been looking to find the answers to these two questions in the ThinkPad T60 Hardware Maintenance Manual and was not sucessful.

Re: Slot 0 and Slot 1 for ram ? + which brand recommend ?
Hello Alofano,
Both memory slots are located directly below the touchpad (directly next to each other), as indicated here: http://www.tt-hardware.com/img/news5/ne ... dujour.gif
So you'll need to remove the palmrest assembly (four screws).
Not sure about brands, but i tend to stay with the same brand that is already installed. So either OEM Samsung, Hynix or whatever is currently installed. Not that i've heard of issues with Kingston or anything, though.
Just avoid the cheapest no-name memory.

Hello Troels,
Thanks for your reply.
Looking at your picture, is slot 0 the one towards the battery or towards the right/left clic buttons ? I have one dimm on the slot that is closer to the battery ; is that slot 0 or slot 1 ? Would it make a difference ?
Again, thanks for your reply.

Re: Slot 0 and Slot 1 for ram ? + which brand recommend ?
I never found that it made any difference which slot was populated. Slot 0 is away from the battery, closer to the motherboard surface. That makes it easier to add a 2nd dimm to the 2nd slot without removing the first one. I use whatever brand is cheapest. I never found any difference between brands, but when using 2 DIMMs, I try to use the same brand for both. I have seen cases where different brands don't work right when mixed.
