WTB: X200, X200s, X201 or X201s

#1 Post by slugg » Wed Nov 24, 2010 2:10 am

Hey guys. I'm in school and my previous laptop (MacBook Pro) was recently stolen. I've been using my friend's spare netbook to get me through this semester, but I'll have to give it back soon. That being said... I need a laptop.

I'm not doing so great financially, so this is kind of a long-shot, but I figured there's no harm in asking.

I'm looking for a X20x(s) for as cheap as possible.

My other option is to wait until the newer ThinkPad revisions come out (some time after the holidays, I'm guessing) and try to buy an older model on the cheap. I just don't think I'll be able to go that long without a computer for school, so I'm casually looking. If a good deal pops up that works with my immediate budget, then I'll go for it.

Thanks for reading :)

EDIT: Combined with Lenovo's "USPYEAREND" coupon and the educational discount, a brand new X201i is currently $672.44 with free shipping and no taxes. If you have any offers, you'd have to beat that price. Thanks :)

I've got one linked in my sig if you're interested. It has the AFFS mod. I'm guessing if you're going the inexpensive route, mine's above your budget. It's there if you want to take a look. Good luck in the quest. It's a worthwhile pursuit.

I've got an X200 for sale. It's the world's first (and possibly only) X200 with a PVA panel, offering a better contrast ratio than any other screen out there... not like I'm bragging... ;)

I'm willing to cut a very large chunk off the list price depending on your exact needs. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

I think I'm going to wait until after Christmas. There's a chance, however very remote, that a family member may give me his old laptop for Christmas. If not, I'll be looking again. I'll just leave this thread up until I get a laptop, I suppose :)

How about a T23 with built-in wifi to tide you over?
1.13GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 14.1" XGA (1024x768), built-in wifi, DVD-Rom, new (old stock) 40GB HD with preinstalled XP-Pro/SP3, AC adapter?
PM me if interested.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Still no laptop, unfortunately. Should I wait for Sandy Bridge and get an old model? Anyhow - I'm casually looking again. :)

$673 seems like a pretty good price.

If you in the US, it's worth considering the Lenovo Outlet. It offers some of the best prices you will see anywhere for the x200* and x201* models. They are excellent portables, especially with the 1440x900 screen.

I've looked, but it seems like the Lenovo Outlet is usually substantially more expensive than the normal retail site with coupons... Unless I'm missing something?

edit: Cheapest X201 is $965.30 on the outlet. Uhh, what?!

The outlet's stock varies depending on what they have. It doesn't have a fixed inventory to offer.

Plus, they just had a pretty good sale too, where it got picked clean.

Understood. I did see that old deal for the X200T for $650. That's an amazing deal - but I had no need for a tablet. Looking back, I probably should have jumped on it.

Anyhow - here goes the waiting game. I hope I can get my hands on a quality ultraportable soon because classes start back up in a week. I'm currently laptop-less. For the first couple weeks of school, I should be okay, methinks.

The tablet has a better screen and is better balanced. Those might be reasons to consider it.
