Edge 14 DVD-rom BAY??

#1 Post by lllypa » Fri Nov 26, 2010 9:55 am

Hi everyone!

I want to buy Edge 14. I'm completely satisfied with it except 2 things - DVD-rom and HDD. I would get rid of DVD-rom at all in 21st century, it just uses so much space..... And the HDD is of course to slow and I would want an SSD these days. Soooo... The question is - is it possible to take out DVD-rom in Edge 14 and use an optional BAY that LENOVO offers?

Thank you!

ps. and bonus question: where to find on the official site WHICH model am I buying? because I want to get ot know if it's gonna have keyboard backlit.

edge ,,,,,in short > sell the edge and buy a Tseries , that way you ACTAULLY achieve the things you want to do<ultra bays>
Edge's dont have anyway to 'unhook' the DVD easily and ADD the 'ultrabay' concept that T and W series have!

But than - Edge gives you HDMI connections with not avalible in T & W Series

Hope this give your the picture.....

Cheers from very chilly Churchill !

The Edge series doesn't support it. I suppose you can crack open the case, mangle an UltraBay adapter and see if you can interface a hard drive with the lapto connector, but that probably won't work.

You could go SSD or you can buy one of the new 500GB Scorpio Blacks; those things look fast! Makes me want to upgrade from my 320GB Scorpio Black already.

Keyboard backlighting should be an option on the configuration page.
