x100e experience so far...

#1 Post by bourgognais » Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:37 am

Hello all,

I finally bought a x100e ( red baby! ) to replace my trusted x60s. I chose the L335 because to my surprise, it seems to be faster than the L625 ( see http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup. ... +Core+L335 ) even if it is not very fast ( it generate the same cpu values in Windows Experience Index as my R60 T2500 ). I will try to change the disk for one of the new Seagate hybrids ( does anyone have experiences with theses? ) to improve a bit on the performance.

For the moment the x100e is more an improved netbook than a cheap X serie Thinkpad IMO. Lenovo has a hard time selling it ( I got my with a large discount from an online retailer ) and I think we would all prefer to see a model with a longer lasting battery ( let’s say an Intel D550 version ) or with better performance ( Intel i3 U380 ).
Now: W510, x100e L335
before: R60, x60s, T43, T42, A31, etc....

I'm not sure X100 is an improvement over X60...

But how about the screen? Do you like it? It seems to be a quite high DPI...

I'll consider purchasing one the next year if they put an AMD Fusion chip in, preferably Ontario 9W one.
Main: i5 3550, 16GB, Z68 Pro3 M, 64GB SLC, 320GB HD, GTX 650Ti, 21.5 FHD LED
T420: i5-2520m, 8GB, SSD: 64GB SLC (boot) | 128GB MLC (storage), HD3000, HD (1366x768), 6 Cell, BT, WebCam
X220: i5-2520m, 4GB, SSD: 64GB SLC (boot) | 128GB MLC (storage), HD3000, HD (1366x768), 6 Cell, BT, WebCam, FP

It is no x60s for sure. It is not as rugged, some buttons and lights ( indicators / thinklight ) are missing but the screen is much nicer ( brighter + higher res. ) and I have a camera for skype now. The keyboard is quite good as well.

I will give this machine a chance until Lenovo include esata, dvi, usb3 to the x201 serie. I’m not sure the x100e body can stand up to my use ( abuse ) of a notebook ( lol ) for that long...
