I just saw that there are a few T43
s on sale on IBM's web site. Kinda early to go on sale isn't it?

what do you mean by sale? since the release they been for sale or do you mean it as for discounted price sales or something like that?

Probably because they are not generating the amount of sales anticipated for the new model, or pre-delivery sales didn't meet quota.
