restore XP Energy Saving

#1 Post by pogacsa » Wed Dec 01, 2010 1:20 am

hi,

I am unable to use power saving as Thinkpad Power Manager is not working fine. Error message is "unathorized access". I have tried other topics registry clean up, also powercfg /RestoreDefaultPolicies. But my windows xp energy scheme selection still empty. The IBM Thinkpad Power Manager is unable to deinstall from the system, so I am not sure what would do after I reinstall.
Is there any way to force windows to reinstall energy saving components from skratch?

This whole situation is just after Symantec NIS 2011 yearly upgrade, that made my computer unaccessable, but now with the power saving and battery mode problems.

thx,
Zol

Your computer sounds hosed. I'd contact Symantec for advice since they screwed it up to begin with. All I can suggest is falling back to a system restore point earlier than the Symantec upgrade.

See if this thread is any help for your power issues...

If you need to uninstall Symantec, check on Symantec's site for their uninstaller. This should completely remove Symatec.
