Is it possible to have two IPs?
Is it possible to have two IPs?
Hi folks,
I connect to the Internet from home and from my work place. Every time I establish the LAN connection I re-enter the IP, Gateway Address etc. in LAN Settings under under Windows.
The questions is:
Is it possible to have two different IP addreses (Gateway Addreses etc.) - one for office and one for home, so that when I connect to the internet the corresponding IP was automatically selected by Windows?
Thanks in advance,
Slasher

Turning off wireless
For security and power reasons, I frequently turn the transmitter on and off with FnF5. Is there some way to avoid having the IBM connections profile attempt and fail to connect automatically?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Turning off wireless
Not that I have found. Whenever I start the PC, it checks for wireless connections even when I have a wire connected. I have checked the settings, but I have not been able to stop Access Connections from trying to find a connection.krcmd wrote:For security and power reasons, I frequently turn the transmitter on and off with FnF5. Personnally I use batch scripts under windows. After a lot of different tries, I kept this solution.
Replace "lan" with the connection name. I rename them in "lan" and "wifi". Once you paste the code in a *.bat file, you just have to execute it, wait a while (windows is not very fast in ip settings modifications) and you have your new network profile ready.
Enjoy
Code: Select all
netsh interface ip set address "lan" static 192.168.0.204 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1 1
netsh interface ip set dns "lan" static 192.168.0.1 primary
Code: Select all
netsh interface ip set address "lan" dhcp
netsh interface ip set dns "lan" dhcp
Enjoy
