X60T getting dim

#1 Post by davepol » Wed Dec 01, 2010 5:07 pm

Hi, I have X60T and the screen is getting yellowish/green tint on it. I want to buy one of those wonderful new screens from ebay :) However I don't know which one? My model has XGA screen and multitouch. I will be grateful for any info or a link to previous discussion on this subject (I looked but couldn't find any thorough info.).

Thanks,
davepol

Well, you can replace it with either the digitizer only part if you don't need the touch, or with the same one you've got.

Use the search function - there are threads which cover ALL the compatible part numbers.

Thanks, I would rather get one with the digitizer since I don't competent to mess with it myself. I found sever auction on ebay but it looks like I will be getting one without multitouch :(

One more question. Could someone tell if the cable/s which connects the screen to the motherboard are the same for multitouch and non-multitouch (pen only) screen?

Going from memory the wire harnesses are not the same, but close enough - you can just leave the multitouch cable disconnected when replacing with the (non-multitouch) screen.

Just be sure to uninstall the multitouch driver, otherwise the cursor will go all crazy.

On a good note, the non-multitouch screen should be brighter.

Thanks! I'm using xubuntu linux (which works very well!) so I don't think there will be any problem with drivers. My screen is not terribly dim but it really looks yellow/green and I have to to admit that it's really annoying. Otherwise x60t is a really great little laptop!
Thanks again!
