Hi,
I am trying to use the 7 + 1 Recovery disc set to restore my T42P to factory defaults. Everything seems to go fine, it tells me it is time to restart, and then it is caught in a loop where it always retrurns to the Recovery menus as if I never did anything. I restored the boot order to defaults and removed cd... what is happening? Please help.
Thanks,
Zac
Recovery is stuck in a loop
Re: Recovery is stuck in a loop
Think this posting belongs in the T4x Forums...
1. How long did you let you computer run on Product Recovery mode? My experience as below:
2. I have a T42, did use 7+1 Product Recovery CD's to successfully restore Win'XP-Pro English (32-bit) onto my T42 (2373-K5H).
From what I recall, when you first bootup from the Product Recovery boot disk, you goto into RnR recovery environment, you have to select for product recovery.
Then you have to baby-sit the computer, wait for it to load the contents of all remaining 7 CDs. Then you have to restart computer.
After that, everything is automated and no need for user input.
~If i remember correctly, after reboot computer did initially go back to RnR recovery environment after reboot, but computer automatically chooses options for product recovery, ie: no user intervention is needed.
Computer then does a few hours of installs, sometimes need to reboot, but again, everything is automated.
I usually let computer run this overnight.
So when I wake up in the morning, computer is ready, asking me to set up Win'XP account settings (set up admin password, etc.)
Hope this helps!

Re: Recovery is stuck in a loop
Thanks for the reply. I finally got it, I think it may have just been a matter of me being confused by the UI
I also did a complete reformat of the hard drive before the install so maybe that is what fixed it.
