New Toy R50p

#1 Post by scr71822 » Mon Dec 06, 2010 10:27 am

Just finished a new toy, an R50p clone. Its fully optioned with some new bells and whistles. I used a T42p Fire GL T2 mobo that supports fingerprint reader, and added that, found a UXGA R50p screen for 50 bucks in good condition. Added an R52 cooling fan from an ATI motherboard (better than the heatsik arrangement) 1.7 2mb processor. Of course it has Bluetooth right now an 11b wireless that will be upgraded soon. I will be adding an SSD soon.

Just replaced the Bluetooth antannae, and installed a b,g wireless card. Plastics aren't bad and I like the fingerprint reader. I think with decent SSD it would be a delight.

I'd happily sell you one or two T23s (they ARE working) to play with!

I like the UXGA Flexview, gives more viewing area than the widescreen vertically, it is small though. Very clear which i like. I think I have about $160 total in it so far.

I've got a like-new 600X that should be somewhat familiar to you. It got a serious makeover this year (almost all-new chassis), but if you want to return to vintage IBM computing I'd be happy to give it a new home... ;)

I appreciate the offers Rob and RealBlackStuff but I am saving up my hard earned pennies for something like an X41t or a T60/R60. I'd like to see how wide-angles look on Thinkpads :)

Have a great rest of the weekend 8)
