Dimmed brightness after logon

Under "Dynamic Brightness Control" in the Power Manager advanced setting, I had screen locked checked. When I login, instead of the brightness going up to what I have it defined for in my power plan (6), it goes to 0. Unchecking this stops the problem from happening, but I haven't tried a full reboot yet to see if the start up option has the same issue. I'm using a T510. Has anyone seen this before?

I have similar problem.

On my T61 Win 7 Pro x64 SP1 RC I have this option active for all situations.

After wake up and after hibernation my screen is still dimmed and I can't undim my screen with Fn+Home heys. This is strange cause sometimes I don't have this problem.

Try uninstalling the Lenovo power manager and use instead the built-in Windows power manager. See if that helps. I have the Lenovo Power manager installed but unused, and I use the Windows manager. I do not experience the problem you describe on my T61p with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I also do not see this on client T410 machines. ... JDH

How to not use Power Manager without uninstallig it?

I would like to keep it because of Power Manager Gauge, it's useful for me.

Is there a way to set Dynamic Brigthnes s Control without PM?

I do not use any non-Windows power profiles and that limits the use of Lenovo Power Manager. I never see it any more.

As far as dynamic brightness, all I use is the settings for brightness on AC, brightness on Battery, brightness after so much time, and screen turn off time. All of that is available in the Windows Power manager.

Now - I am not suggesting to uninstall Lenovo PM permanently; I suggest it only as a test to see if it is part of the problem or not. ... JDH

When I uninstall PM I couldn't be able use Dynamic Brightness Control, so I'm sure it's some software problem of PM.

True. I can see that I have Dynamic Brightness completely disabled. My bent is toward simplicity, so I ignore, uncheck, disable or uninstall anything complicated or unneccesary. ... JDH

I easily found dynamic brightness in Power Manger V3.31. But I just installed V3.40 and it seems that dynamic brightness is gone. At least I could not easily find it. ... JDH

In ver 3.40, switch to Advanced Mode, go to Global Power Settings tab and there is Dynamic Brightness Control.

Thank you, yes. I was looking in the details and did not see it for looking.

So it is still there, I have everything in the sub-settings disabled (off), and the new power manager otherwise appears to be functioning properly.

I still prefer the Windows power manager in this case. .... JDH

If Windows 7 Power management is better than ThinkVantage PM, why dev don't stop developing it?
I'm hope Windows 7 Power managment will implement Dynamic Brightness, it could be usefull.

Lenovo stopped developing Thinkvantage Eject after XP as Vista and Windows 7 integrated it. I suspect in time, the same may happen to Power Manager. ... JDH

Yes, U have right, but Fn+F9 combination do nothing on my Windows 7 Pro x64. Any advise?

Fn-F9 does nothing on my T61p with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, but then my T61p did not come with Windows 7 and it is therefore the retail Windows 7 install plus all drivers. It works exceedingly well, but I never noticed the Fn-F9 before.

Follow-up: It has been so long, I have forgotten. From somewhere at Lenovo via Google: Opens the ThinkPad EasyEject Utility screen.

There is no easy eject in Vista / Windows 7 and Windows 7 does not implement the function key. ... JDH
