Help - SSD Solid State Drive can not be detected in BIOS

#1 Post by Phidelio » Mon Dec 06, 2010 6:55 pm

Hi guys!

It seems there are several ppl having this problem though I still havent seen any solution. Fact:

1. I have cloned my current OS to the drive
2. If I connect via USB the drive is detected
3. If I put it in the Ultra Bay or standard hard drive bay it is not found
4. Changing from apci/compatibility mode or setting "quick boot" to "off" does not work.
5. I have updated the bios to what, AFAIK, is the last firmware.

Any ideas? Btw, the drive is an OCZ Vertex 2.

Thank you all!

(feel free to comment but I dont think it can be argued...)

Hi Mike! It sure is cold here :)

Problem is I am not having problems at the install.. its that the bios simply cant find any drive. When I try to run the HD diagnostics inside the bios it simply says "no main hard drive found".. :(

Totally CRAZY! I removed the metal tray for the hard drive and just inserted it with the rubber bars, and... it worked! Boots up with my w7 image without problems. Previous booting time (from pushing the power button to the desktop screen in w7) was 59 seconds, and with the SSD about 34.
