how to prep hdd in ultrabay to make it bootable?

#1 Post by skanky » Wed Dec 08, 2010 2:06 pm

i've got a t60 with the hdd ultrabay adapter, i use the secondary drive mainly as a backup solution using symantec ghost to do full drive/partition images.

at the moment using the t60, i have to use a usb floppy (urgh!) to boot and it loads ntfspro so i can see the drive in the ultrabay to start ghost. what i'd like to do it boot directly from ultrabay drive and run the autoexec.bat/config.sys bootup files so it can start ntfspro.

is this doable? is there a way to look at how the boot disk works then "transfer" it to the ultrabay hdd to make it bootable?

AFAIK, this should work on the T60: press F12 at the BIOS splash screen to get the BIOS boot menu and choose the second drive from the list. This is what I do with my T42.

If you want to boot the Ultrabay drive by default, then you would have to change the setup in the BIOS (press F1 at boot).
