Those WPC54G cards are decent -- I've used several over the
years, first in my old T20s and currently in my T30.

A family member here used one for years on the other side of the house and upstairs from the router and it worked fine.

Wifi not here yet, the new R31 two 512mb memory sticks arrived,
so I removed the two 128's and put in the new. Problem= It posted
and counted the memory correct amount stopped at 1040MB, then
said "re-set time & date" so I pressed F1 to go into the bios to do that, but the screen blanked with a little pic of a PC and a padlock
to the right of that. Nothing. I am stumped what to do. Did I do
something wrong? I put both in at same time? This PC has the new
HHD and new CMOS battery, and was working perfectly prior to
installing the new memory. HELP?

Like I said. There is nothing..... asking for any password. The whole
screen is blank except a tiny PC with a closed padlock next to it.
both together are about 1/2" big. just to left of the center. No mouse pointer ect. took memory out...reinstalled=same. put old
back in = same. put new back in = same. Any ideas?

When starting laptop, it counts memory, initiates and then OS starts.
This takes about four minutes. Everything is working great. Well
almost, seems like 6mo old battery is about to go south. If I unplug the AC power adapter, later, I have to go into bios and reconfig time/date & the mouse to automatic detect, then F10 to save & reboot. Yea, thats alot of extra wasted time.
Anything I can do to get to Desktop quickly? I am an amateur at this.

OK........Left it plugged in all nite in hope of fully recharging battery,
It booted right up to Windows & Desktop in a half minute. I unplugged and it ran on own power 19 min until it crapped out.
After re-plug, booted with other tendacies, so I guess its JUST when
she loses a power source this occures. SOLVED!...........................

Thanks to Harry & all who enlightened me! Your guideance is Devine!

Windows media player does not include DVD codecs by default, you will have to add them, or use a different player that includes them. It's a licensing issue.

There are several that will work, but I've had greatest success with slightly older versions of VLC player. The latest version seems to require more resources than my older Thinkpads can provide. Media Player Classic is another popular player, as is KMPlayer. I've never used RealPlayer and don't know anything about it.
