My T410 ate my SD card!
My T410 ate my SD card!
Hi Y'all,
I have a Hoodman 16GB SD card that goes back and forth between my T410 and X41 tablet a few times a week.
The card has worked flawlessly in the X41T.
In the T410, I have had to insert it very carefully, and occasionally re-insert for the T410 to recognize it.
Today, I tried to take it out and it comes out about 1/4" and stops. Gentle tugging won't bring it out.
Can I take the laptop apart to get this out?
I pushed it back in and it says Microsoft wants to format the card.
Anybody else had issues with a T410 and an SD card?
Thanks for any help, Weogo

Re: My T410 ate my SD card!
If it were a cheaper card, I'd just put a pair of needle nose pliers on it, but because it's the opposite of cheap I'd open the computer. Take out the screws on the underside of the machine labeled with the keyboard logo. Once the keyboard is off the palm rest is self explanatory. Once that's off you can take the SD reader right out.

Funny because I was using my T410 today and SD card just shot out about 2 feet and hit me in the stomach!

Hi Mike,
I pulled the keyboard and keyboard bezel, only to see the SD card hanging out under the metal.
I would have to pull the bottom too, and a friend just told me the SD card reader may be on the motherboard.
So does anybody know if the Reader is indeed on the motherboard, or a separate item? I didn't find a FRU for it.
I tried a little harder pulling the SD card out and got it out. In pieces. Taped together I can still read it in the X41T.
Thanks and good health, Weogo

Re: My T410 ate my SD card!
Perhaps it was pushed in off-line ... You could always call the card maker or Lenovo and argue for a replacement, but it seems a long shot. I'd try another, cheaper card in that SD reader (gently!) before putting the taped card back in there ... Actually, I wouldn't put it in at all until you diagnose what exactly happened ...
I found these online, but you'll have to search specifically by your model number to know what you have, or if you're under warranty, just call them:

Hi Mike,
I believe the Smart Card Reader is different from the SD card reader.
On the T410 a Smart Card goes above the hard drive, and the SD Card Reader slot is on the front.
Thanks and good health, Weogo
