Got my X41T! And now?

#1 Post by Tasurinchi » Fri Dec 10, 2010 5:03 pm

Hi Thinkpaders!

I'm typing this in my new X41T! :D It's running Ubuntu Maverick and everything seems to be working ootb!

I never had a tablet PC before, so I have a couple of noobie questions.

For Ubuntu (or Windows as well, I may try it during the weekend if I find time)
- Any recommendation about applications to install?
- Is there any application that enables a screen keyboard? It's fun browsing pages with the pointer, but for visiting forums I have to put back the screen to "standard position" and type with the normal keyboard.
- Screen rotation is not working but haven't browsed the Ubuntu forums yet. Is it supposed to work automatically? (iPhone alike) or do I have to press the button to activate it? (and yes, I did press the button but as said before it's not working yet)

The system came with 1GB and a stock 60GB drive and it's very responsive.

The screen is GREAT! :thumbs-UP: I did a first test yesterday with a Linux Mint USB stick and was very surprised to see how sharp and colorful it is. I had no clue that this tablet model will be such an improvement over the other X4s I have! Do someone know a Linux program to check the panel model? I'm curious now...

I am the same line with you, because today i received a 1.8" HDD (Kingspec 16GB SSD) for my X41 Tablet.
I received the X41 Tablet much earlier, but couldn't use it because of the lack of an HDD.
I also expect to receive a stylus next week, so then the fun is really gonna start.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit installed on it, works great, but i still have to find a few drivers (most of the drivers are found automatically by Windows 7 after i had connected it to the internet). Drivers i am currently missing:
  • Graphics adapter (Intel 900)
Some unknown device (really don't know what this is :??: )
It is also nice that Windows 7 has built in support for the fingerprint reader 8)

Just found out how the context menus work with the stylus. Anyone a hint for installing a virtual keyboard? I had to switch back from "tablet mode" to standard laptop mode to answer this post. :?

Edit: I found a screen keyboard! I'm typing this using "onboard".
