Are the display panels in the T60(p):s better than T61:s?

#1 Post by Phidelio » Sat Dec 11, 2010 8:03 pm

Hi!

I just read this somewhere on the board so I am wondering if its true and if someone please could fill me in? Could I swap my 1680x1050 T61p for a T60 one and get a noticeable improvement? If so, what improvements? Thank you!
Currently has a silly amount of Thinkpads: 600|600e|T20|R31|R40|R50e|R60e|T40|T40p|T41|X40|X40|X41Tablet|T61p|T61p|T61p wuxga
The best Thinkpad ever made? The T41p - hands down!
(feel free to comment but I dont think it can be argued...)

The good displays on the T60/p where the 15" 4:3 SXGA+/UXGA displays, which where IPS (called Flexview). They offer wider viewing angles.

No T61 exists in 15" 4:3 format that would take them, so you cannot just swap them in.

The rest of the T60 displays were no different from their T61 counterparts. FWIW, the 15.4" WSXGA+ one you have is one of the better ones already, and probably the best you could get in your form factor.
Current: X220 4291-4BG, T410 2537-R46, T60 1952-F76, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G
Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad
Past: Z61t 9440-A23, T60 2623-D3U, X32 2884-M5U
