X200 Palm Rest Flex

#1 Post by Stillborn » Sun Dec 12, 2010 11:39 am

Hey people, I got in my X200 this past week and so far I have been really enjoying it(easily the best computer I own). The only thing that really annoys me about this notebook is the flexing on the palm rest. Is this normal for X200's? Is there any way to fix this?

Where are you experiencing flex? I've had both an X200s and X200, and while the former exhibited flex in a couple specific places, the latter seems much more rigid.

The whole rest flexes a bit, but the worst spots I can see is right under the right mouse button, express card slot (understandable) and around the "thinkpad" logo.

Huh. Well the area under the buttons was the worst on my X200s. I can't say I've noticed any flex there in normal use on my X200 though. If I press quite hard I can cause it to flex -- but that's true of pretty much any plastic on any computer I've ever used!

Just for kicks, what's the FRU of your palmrest? I'd wonder if we might have different parts...

Yeah, I am applying a bit of force when testing the flex, but the most notable area is definitely underneath the right mouse button.

Mine does not flex at all, except for if i will squeeze the ExpressCard area really hard, it will, of course, bend a little.
