need help in finding a particular T42 model

#1 Post by z.entropic » Wed Mar 16, 2005 10:47 pm

I'd like to find a T42 model with the following specs: 1.7-1.8GHz Pentium M, 256MB (will add another 512 MB), a quiet 60MB/5400 HD, 14.1" XGA/Samsung, 802.11b+g/IBM, FP, CD-RW/DVD-R, a Thai-made keyboard. Where can I find a convenient and easy to use product/model matrix to specify these options and get the corresponding model?

Are there any T42p models with 14.1" XGA screens? Are T42p's usually heavier than T42s?

See tabook.pdf for different models. Ref is in FAQ in my sig.
14" T42/T43 models weigh the same.

Are you certain you want an XGA and not an SXGA+ (1400 x 1050)? The SXGA+ models are what most people in this forum prefer.

If you want the SXGA+ model, the value machine is a T43 266846U and then you can update the hard drive to 60GB. See FAQ in my sig for details.

p.s.

If you buy from Bill, no sales tax. Also (at extra charge), he is the ONLY vendor offering a "no dead pixel" check.**

**=dead pixel check offer only valid while his eyes are still good :-)

:D Anyway, thanks for the advice, I should have checked that famous TABook first...

Re SXGA+ vs XGA, I have a 14.1" 1024x768 display on my T23 and can't find any good reason to go to the hard-to-read fonts on my co-workers T42 SXGA+'s--but I'm older than they are... Since I also like the simpler, less toy-like Win2K interface much more than XP, you can figure what my general preferences are.
