R&R and fan noise at level 0 - T410

Hi everyone,

I was new to this forum. After bought one ThinkPad T410 in September, I have used a lot of information from this forum. Thank you very much.

Now I have two questions about ThinkPad.

1)Rescue and Recovery
How much hard disk space has been used with R&R on your machine? I bought T410 as educational version without preinstalled OS or R&R partition. After about 10 days I installed R&R and let create the first base image. After about 3 hrs the process is completed and I found that ca. 100 GB of hard disk was shown as used. Before first base image the used space is only 50 GB. It means R&R has made an almost 1:1 image of my docs. After optimizing the hd space there was no big difference. Is that how R&R works? Make a 1:1 copy? What are the differences with comparison to other imaging creating software?

2) Fan Noise
Like people mentioned, T 410 is a quite noisy machine with comparison to other T series. So I have been using TPFanControl to low down the fan noise. In the night I’ve noticed one thing: TPFanControl show that the fan level is “0” and at the same time I can hear a little fan noise from left bottom. Does the fan level “0” mean the fan is not running? Can you guys hear the noise when it’s 0?
