x60s ignoring charge thresholds
I changed my charge thresholds so it charges when it get down to 40%. However, the laptop doesn't seem to remember this when I shut it down.
Whenever I shut down my x60s, unplug it, and sometime later plug in the AC adapter it will charge the battery regardless of how much battery is left. If I turn it on right after plugging it in and load the OS it won't charge the battery. It doesn't seem to remember the thresholds unless the OS is running. I already have the latest BIOS and power manager version. Is this normal behavior?

Mine has done this as well but I don't know if it's normal.

Re: x60s ignoring charge thresholds
Just a guess, but it sounds like the OS has to be loaded in order to command the charger to obey your custom charge threshold. It makes sense..... unless the OS can permanently change the BIOS or battery settings (not sure where the charge intelligence is) and those changes survive a shutdown, I would expect the battery to charge normally unless the OS was loaded.
I've never noticed the behavior you describe, but I almost always use standby and rarely actually shut down.

Re: x60s ignoring charge thresholds
I also have an R500, and I haven't noticed this happening. So I always thought it "remembers" the thresholds when you change them. Maybe the older models don't.

Re: x60s ignoring charge thresholds
I've never got the charge thresholds to work correctly on either of my two T60s.
It seems as if sometimes they work, and sometimes the laptop just ignores it, and charges to 100%. Worst thing is that they seem to be configured correctly (if you look at settings in the Power Manager), but the machine still simply continues to charge.
I haven't manage to find a pattern to it. It seems as if hibernating, or putting the machine into standby, or docking/undocking/redocking is very likely to mess up the behavior. I am at the point where I am ready to proclaim the feature as broken.
FWIW, my new T410 has still not given me such a problem. Now, I don't know if it is a problem with the hardware (embedded controller) in the T60 or its batteries, or whether it's a problem with the older Power Manager I use on mt T60s (T410 uses the newest), or maybe the operating system (XP versus 7). The latter is a long shot, since problems seem to happen when the machine is suspended / off.
