Looking to upgrade

Hey guys I'm looking to upgrade from my thinkpad t42 to something with a little more horse power I was told that buying parts to make it faster was expensive so I'm just looking for a laptop with a little more horse power
I'm willing to trade my current t42 and I will gladly throw in an old ipod classic 80 gig silver.
The laptop has no hard drive since it has crashed and it has all other basic things besides the dvd/cd
