Slow Infrared Transfers...

#1 Post by Tsuioku » Thu Mar 17, 2005 2:40 am

I'm trying to transfer files between my X40 and T41P by infrared but the transfer is EXTREMELY slow... The IrDA is supposed to be rated at 4Mbps but the transfer felt more like 4kbps...
I tried placing the sensors side by side, covering the laptops so that there is no outside light and still no change..

Anyone know how to fix this?

Infrared's slow, it's been around since god knows when and used in computers since the 1990's. 4mbps is to what speed it can go, not what it's most likely to run at. For files above 2 or 3mb, and even files that small, the best way to move them without wires is through Bluetooth or WiFi.

My t-30 is horribly slow with Infrared transfers, too. If you can, burn a CD or use a USB Thumb Drive.
